Lisa Bauer Memorial BBQ Raises Money for a Good Cause
Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, potato salad, and desserts are part of any good Memorial Day BBQ. On Sunday May 30, all of this and much more were available at Nassau Swim Club for a special cause.
The 2nd annual BBQ in honor of Lisa Bauer attracted hundreds of supporters. The event featured a number of activities, including a disc jockey, moon bounce, string band, magician, silent auction, and, of course, the pool as a place to splash and swim.
Neal Bauer enthusiastically described the 2010 Lisa Bauer Memorial BBQ as "another huge success that has continued to bring awareness to all of the dangers of heart disease, especially in the case of women. Our goal every year is that, through the monies collected for this event, we will prevent at least one family — and hopefully more — from going through the tragedy of losing a loved one to women’s heart disease."
$6,849 was raised from the BBQ event and donated to the Lisa Bauer Memorial Fund at the Taylor Community Foundation (TCF). All proceeds — plus a $1,000 challenge grant from TCF — were subsequently donated to The American Heart Association and Bryn Mawr Hospital Community Health Services in Lisa’s memory.
