Health Awareness Day

In cooperation with the Ridley School District, Taylor Hospital, the Ridley Township Board of Commissioners, and Community YMCA, TCF coordinates an annual Health Awareness Day, which is intended to promote the physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being of the residents of Ridley Township, Ridley Park, Eddystone, and the surrounding communities.Health Awareness Day

Health Awareness Day/YMCA Healthy Kids Day is traditionally held on a Saturday in April at Ridley High School. The event comprises programs, activities, health education, and services for community members of all ages, encompassing the life cycle from infants to the elderly. Assorted health screenings are also provided free of charge throughout the day. The event kicks off with a 5K run — open to all age groups and ability levels — for the benefit of the Ridley Educational Foundation and Community YMCA.

TCF also presents multiple "Volunteer of the Year" awards during the course of the day. These awards celebrate the spirit of volunteerism and recognize an adult volunteer, a high school volunteer, and a middle school volunteer whose actions include a willingness to get involved, a generous commitment of time, and a desire to enhance the quality of life in the community. Each award recipient is empowered with the ability to direct a $100 TCF grant to any of our TCF Eligible Organizations.

This event truly exemplifies volunteerism and community spirit. TCF staff, Ridley School District staff, Crozer Keystone health care professionals, Community YMCA staff and volunteers, and many Ridley High School students from a wide variety of clubs and organizations serve in staff and volunteer roles. Local police and fire departments from the community also donate their time, as do various community-based service organizations in Delaware County.
